About BrieflyLegal
Law affects everyone, but legal education often feels like it's written for lawyers alone. BrieflyLegal exists to change that.
We believe you shouldn't need a law degree to understand the cases that shape our society. Through clear, engaging case analysis, we transform dense legal judgments into stories that make sense. No Latin phrases, no impenetrable jargon - just the fascinating human dramas that created the laws we live by.
Our case-based approach shows you how legal principles actually work in practice. Whether you're curious about your rights, studying for exams, or just love a good courtroom drama, you'll find law isn't as intimidating as it seems.
About Me
Hi, I'm Tanisha Vivekanantham, a JD candidate at Monash University with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of Melbourne.
I started BrieflyLegal because I noticed something while studying law. Whenever I told friends or family about cases, they'd find the stories interesting but couldn't follow the legal explanations. They'd ask me to explain things without all the technical terms.
That's when it hit me: people are genuinely curious about law, but traditional legal resources aren't written for them.
They're written for lawyers, by lawyers, in language that seems designed to exclude rather than educate. My background in science taught me that complex ideas can be explained simply without losing their essence. My experience in client communication reinforced that clarity is a choice, not a compromise. BrieflyLegal combines both perspectives to create something new - legal education that respects your intelligence without assuming prior knowledge.
Every case on this site answers the same question my friends asked: "What actually happened, and why does it matter?" Because understanding law shouldn't require years of study. Sometimes, all it takes is someone willing to translate.
Welcome to BrieflyLegal. Let's explore the law together.
